Uploading Videos from a Mobile Device

Typically, when you upload a video from your mobile device to your Vidflex site, it will automatically use the same orientation in which it was recorded. Otherwise, you can try using a third party app to open and save your video, then try uploading the video to your Vidflex Library. Doing this will ensure that your video file is saved with the correct orientation.

Here are two free apps that you can download:

  • If you're using an Android device, try using YouCut. Also, follow the steps in Using YouCut for Mobile.
  • If you're using Apple iOS, try using iMovie. Also, follow the steps in Using iMovie for Mobile.

When you upload this file to your Library, it will play in the correct orientation. See Managing Video Files for more information.

Using YouCut for Mobile

The instructions below explain how to open and save a video file using YouCut. You can do this before uploading the file to your Vidflex video site.

  1. Open the YouCut app on your device.
  2. Touch + (Add).
    • If it’s your first time opening the app, it’ll ask for permission to access your videos. Touch Allow.
      A list of your most recent videos begin to appear on the screen.
  3. If you don’t see the video file that you want to edit, you may have to browse your folders to find it. Touch Recent ▼ to browse to the correct folder.
  4. Select the video.
  5. Touch Save (on the top right).
  6. OPTIONAL: You can select the video resolution or the app will use the default setting.
  7. OPTIONAL: You can select the video quality or the app will use the default setting.
  8. Touch Compress.

A progress wheel appears to show when the video file has been saved successfully. You can find the file in your mobile device’s Media Gallery.

Using iMovie for Mobile

The instructions below explain how to open and save a video file using iMovie on a mobile device. You can do this before uploading the file to your Vidflex video site.

  1. Open the iMovie app on your device.
  2. Touch + (Create New).
  3. Touch Movie.
  4. Select the movie that you want to edit.
  5. Touch Create Movie.
  6. OPTIONAL: If you want to make changes to your video, you can do so in this screen.
  7. Touch Done.
  8. Touch the Upload File icon. 
  9. Touch Save Video.
  10. Select the file import size.
    A progress bar appears to show that the video is being saved.
  11. Touch OK.

The video is saved in your mobile device's Photo Library.
